What We Offer

  • Introduction to Dental Assisting:
    Orientation to the profession and the platform. What dental assistants do, where they work, and how the course runs.

    Dental Sciences:
    Microbiology, biochemistry, and physiology through the oral cavity: the periodontium, tooth formation and tissues, numbering and surfaces, eruption schedules, and charting.

    The Dental Assistant's Role:
    Supporting diagnosis, charting and clinical notes, patient education, common procedures, impressions, and anesthesia.

  • Radiology:
    Radiation safety, equipment and image receptors, intraoral and extraoral technique including panoramic and CBCT, positioning errors and troubleshooting, and reading normal radiographic anatomy.

    Medical Considerations:
    Pharmacology basics, medical conditions and common medications, vital signs, and responding to medical emergencies in the dental setting.

    Infection Control:
    PPE, sanitation, disinfection and sterilization, waste disposal, bloodborne pathogens and exposure response, and laboratory asepsis.

    Four-Handed Dentistry:
    Chairside technique, instrument transfer, patient communication, dental dam and isolation, and expanded assistant duties by state.
